Privacy Policy

a. Yorkco School Employees Credit Union is committed to a policy that will insure that information regarding our membership shall be considered confidential and private.

b. In the course of its business, the credit union can and will obtain information regarding a member’s age, employment status, income, social security/taxpayer identification number, credit history and other items pertinent to the individual.

c. Information obtained by member disclosure or through credit reporting agencies shall become the property of the credit union and shall not normally be provided to 3rd parties.

d. Starting January 1, 2003 no information regarding member’s accounts will be given out via the telephone. Account information may be obtained through the following venues:

  1. Member's statements
  2. Personal Audio Teller (P.A.T.)
  3. Web Banking (linkage from www.yorkcosecu.org)

e. Under no circumstances shall any information related to member name, income, address, employment, etc. be provided to 3rd parties for direct marketing efforts.

  1. The Credit Union does reserve the right to provide certain information to 3rd party vendors in relation to completing or maintaining such transactions or accounts as related to data processing, credit reporting agencies, check printers, etc.
  2. Such reporting shall be considered acceptable to the member upon receipt of a valid signature authorization (i.e. share or share draft application, completed loan application, etc.)
  3. The following companies or governmental agencies are considered appropriate for information exchange:

    • GBS/SHARETEC (Data Processing);
    • CUNA Business Services (IRS 1098/1099 Reporting);
    • Mid-Atlantic Corporate FCU (share/Debit Processing);
    • PACUL/CERTERGY Services (Credit/Debit Card Processing);
    • Liberty Check Printers (Draft/Loan Printing)
    • World Wide Interactive (Web Banking)
    • Credit Reporting Agencies
    • State and Federal Governmental Agencies as required by law or regulation.
    • Coast to Coast (OFAC)

f. Except in certain necessary internal procedures (i.e. Supervisory Committee Reviews, Loan Referrals to Credit Committee or Member Interactions that require Board Of Directors Intervention), we shall restrict access to information about members to those paid employees who need to know that information in order to provide products or services to the member. The Credit Union shall maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard member information.

g. Other Parties (i.e. attorneys, local, state, or federal agencies, etc. shall be required to provide appropriate authorization prior to the release of any member information. Such authorization shall consist of a search warrant, subpoena, or other legal document and in the case of federal agencies shall include a Certificate of Compliance form as covered under the Right to Financial Privacy Act of 1978.

h. Unless specifically prohibited from doing so, the member shall be notified in writing that:

…The credit union has received a ________(subpoena or other legal document) from the __________ (court, attorney, etc.) directed by __________ requesting financial Information on accounts held with our credit union (copy attached). To comply with this __________ a search is being conducted to retrieve your financial records. It is the policy of this credit to notify members that such action has been instituted. Unless you immediately take steps to prevent us from doing so, we will submit the documents to the requesting party.

i. At least once each year, members shall be notified of this policy and new members shall receive a copy upon application for membership.
